cameras & lenses
Absolutely, here’s the updated version with those tweaks:
Cameras & Lenses
We choose Fujifilm X / GFX cameras as the backbone of these adventures. Peep leans into his GFX 50S II, X-E5, and X-T5 as his main cameras for travel and art, while Dixie is passionate about the brick-style rangefinder feel, changing between his daily-carry X-Pro3 and GFX 50R. From there, the fun begins—because the lens choice is where FMS really comes alive.
What started as a strictly vintage-glass project has evolved. Today, we mix classic vintage and retro manual-focus lenses with first-generation Fujifilm X lenses, Viltrox, 7Artisans, TTArtisans, and other modern lenses with retro designs that “paint” a vintage feel of the scene. We both rely on a wide gamut of adapters and often reach for the Fotodiox line for their quality, durability, and versatility. If you’re hunting an adapter to marry old glass to modern bodies, their catalog is a great place to start.
Each lens—old or new—has its own personality: unique contrast, flare, bokeh, and quirks. We treat them like light paintbrushes, chosen not just for focal length but for mood and storytelling. Many of the vintage lenses we use have already lived multiple lives in the hands of other photographers, traveling the world long before they joined the FMS kit. That lineage, that history baked into the glass, is part of the charm.
We’re not chasing clinical perfection or lab-chart sharpness. We’re chasing feel. Whether it’s a decades-old manual lens or a modern character lens with a retro vibe, the goal is the same—to slow down, be intentional, and truly engage with the moment. In a world of instant autofocus and rapid-fire bursts, Forgotten Main Street chooses a different pace: to enjoy the act of seeing, the craft of photography, and the quiet satisfaction of making each frame count.
